In the early 2000s, Stellenbosch University began to notice that there is a crop of leaders who have led in many student structures and communities but wanted to continue to contribute while in non-leadership roles. This coincided with growing interest and deepening efforts in addressing some of the perennial issues faced by South Africa, Africa, and the world at large.
The infectious enthusiasm to serve, undeniable talent, and the brilliant minds that this cohort possessed inspired the formation of the Listen, Live and Learn (LLL). This was to represent the apex student leadership development platform at Stellenbosch University, in an effort to actively create great leadership across society in order to increase the prospect of tackling some of the most pressing issues of our times: social cohesion, sustainable development, poverty, and inequality.
The LLL programme has since come to be the preferred place of stay for students who would want to hone their leadership skills while contributing to the betterment of society in different ways. Please visit our learning programme, and news and update pages to learn more on what we do, how it is done, and the participants involved.
